The Glove

Gesture Recognition | Physical Computation | Interactive Wearables

Individual Work

Timeline: November 2018 - December 2018 (3 weeks)

Made with: Hardware - Arduino, Leap Motion; Software - Processing, Tinkercad; Materials - Cardboard, Spray Paint.

| Opportunity

We were asked to create an interactive experience using Processing and Arduino.

| Outcome

An exploration of innovative methods introducing hand gesture recognition technology to users through interactive wearables.

The Glove is an interactive project that brings “magical powers” to its users. Taken inspiration from The Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers, together with conductive tape and Arduino, the 3D-printed stones act as the switch to generate different scenes. LEDs are added to each stone to enhance the visual stimulation of the switches.

This project uses Leap Motion to achieve the goal of capturing and recognizing the user’s hand motion. It's an exploration of innovative methods introducing hand gesture recognition technology to users through interactive wearables.

01. Interaction Flow

Users could pick up a stone and place it on whichever holder they prefer. As the conductive tape at the bottom of the stone touches the conductive tape on the holder, it will light up the led and trigger the corresponding scene in Processing on the laptop.

Processing will then present instructions on the correct hand gesture that will allow the user to further explore the animation.
